As freezing temperatures descend upon a large part of the country, folks interested in having warm and relaxing vacations might be hard-pressed to find a location that meets their needs this time of the year. However, in Sarasota the temperatures are still in the mid-80s and there is plenty of sunshine to go around. A visit to downtown Sarasota is unlikely to disappoint, but taking an island vacation in January is the kind of story your friends and coworkers will be interested to hear.
Siesta Key, which is one of the islands off the coast of Sarasota, was named the number one beach in the United States by Trip Advisor for a few different reasons. The island actually has three different beaches; the Siesta Public Beach which is gorgeous and has space for picnics, Turtle Beach which has several tenant spaces and free Wi-Fi, and Crescent Beach, a 2 mile stretch of spectacular white sand coastline that offers visitors a stunning view of the Gulf of Mexico. And for those interested in getting on the water, Siesta Key retailers have jet skis, paddle boats and kayaks available for rent. In fact, the only drawback to visiting Siesta Key is that after visiting, you’ll find it next to impossible to believe.
